I chose adoption for my baby not because I didn’t want her but because I love her. I know that at this point in my life, with two young children already, I could not support another. The fathers of the two I have now do nothing to help out. I am still trying to establish my place in the world. I just knew this way my daughter would have the best life I could provide for her.

The adoptive parents are the nicest people I have ever met. They visited and talked with me often. I was so relieved to meet them and know that they trusted me enough to know so much about them. I feel that she will be truly safe and happy with them.

For all those mothers and mothers-to-be that are thinking of adoption, don’t be afraid of it. It’s a very loving decision. It will be hard, but at least this way the baby will live and have the life they deserve to have. Some birth mothers have even knitted a special blanket as a gift to their baby or given a similar symbol of their love.

The father of your baby can fill out the birth father's keepsake booklet or write a letter too. You may have other family members who would also like to share photos or a letter to the baby. This is your opportunity to pass on your and your family's love and to share your personality, history and reasons for choosing adoption. The adoptive family will treasure whatever information you provide and will share it with the baby at an appropriate age. In most adoptive homes, the word adoption is in the child's vocabulary early on, and adoption is celebrated in their lives.
