Why Choose American Adoptions

You deserve a family. As a licensed agency, we offer honest wait times and financial protection to ensure your success.

A Proven Track Record of Success

There are three main reasons why our active families will complete an adoption:

  1. Financial Protection: We protect you from losing money on adoptions that don’t work out.
  2. Transparent Wait Times: We always provide transparency with our current wait time estimates to our families.
  3. We are Licensed: You never have to worry about unethical practices and misleading information that puts your chance of success at risk.

Compare that to most other professionals that don't offer the same security, leading families like you to face:

  • Long, unpredictable wait times with no end in sight.
  • Losing money when an adoption doesn't work.
  • Repaying costly fees to pursue a new adoption opportunity.
  • Unlicensed professionals often prevent you from ever having the family you deserve.

Because other agencies don't offer financial protection, a disruption could wipe out your adoption budget, making it impossible for your family to pursue another opportunity.

Transparent Adoption Wait Times

We know that most adoptive families are concerned with time and hope to complete an adoption quickly. Trusting an agency’s estimated wait times is paramount to your success and mitigates the unnecessary risk of losing time and money.

One key factor determines the accuracy of our wait times: We have the highest level of marketing, significantly increasing adoption opportunities.

What is marketing?

Our online marketing and paid advertising mean you benefit from outreach to 12x the number of pregnant women than the average agency.

Why is it important?

More marketing = shorter wait times.
The more pregnant women an agency reaches, the more adoption opportunities for your family.

Our marketing reaches significantly more potential clients than the next largest professional.

  • Low marketing = long, unpredictable waiting estimates.
  • High marketing = shorter and more predictable waiting times.

The more pregnant women an agency reaches, the more adoption opportunities for your family.

Here is how American Adoptions compares to its competitors.

Name of company Wait time Estimate Potential Clients Reached Monthly

Data based on independent analysis on SEMRUSH.com and Google Analytics of monthly web traffic. These numbers are based on total web traffic. A percentage is made up of pregnant women.

Independently verified

American Adoptions Avg. 12 mo. 200k
2nd Largest Competitor 9-24 mo. 32k
3rd Largest Competitor 12-24 mo. 27k
Most smaller agencies 12-18 mo. 1k

While the next largest competitor does 12x less marketing, smaller local agencies can be upwards of 100x less. Because they do so few adoptions, they don't have the data to predict wait times accurately. Ultimately, they're guessing.

Did You Know?

Many professionals have expiring contracts and require additional payments to continue pursuing adoption. American Adoptions is committed to your success, which is why our contracts never expire.

Financial Protection: Saving Money on Adoptions That Don’t Work Out.

We know how important your adoption budget is, and that’s why we protect you from financial losses when an adoption doesn’t work out.

Why is this important? Two reasons:

  1. Our data consistently shows only 4% of women considering adoption place their baby.

Based on our company data from more than 30 years of completing adoptions, on average, only 4% of women who initially inquire about placing their child for adoption move forward and complete a placement. This is why being protected from potential financial losses is so important when considering adoption.

  2. Many families are unable to continue with their adoption after the financial loss associated with an adoption disruption.

An adoption disruption is any circumstance where an adoption cannot continue. For example, when a pregnant mother doesn’t choose adoption.

Every month, we receive phone calls from adoptive couples who joined other agencies, not understanding the financial risks. Many suffered devastating losses of thousands of dollars and years of precious time before contacting American Adoptions.

Don’t take unnecessary risks – unlike other agencies, American Adoptions protects you from financial losses on adoptions that don’t work out.

Here’s a breakdown of the financial losses you face when working with other agencies:

Fees at Risk

These are the Fees at Risk in each situation where pregnant women don’t choose adoption.

Other Agencies American Adoptions
Agency fees $1-20k average loss $0
Legal Fees $3-10k average loss $0
Living expenses, rent, utilities, etc. $5-15k average loss $0
Medical Expenses Varies $0

When choosing to work with other adoption organizations, you bear 100% of the risk when an adoption doesn’t work out, which, on average, is more than $15k.

At American Adoptions, you pay a financial protection fee that covers you until you have a successful placement.

"To set aside that amount of money with the potential of a disruption eating away at your budget and then to start over, it would be a deal breaker for a lot of families."

It's important to be aware that financial scams are sadly common in adoption. If the professional you're working with isn't licensed, they are not regulated, and you face an increased risk of losing time and money.

American Adoptions works only with licensed professionals in states we aren't licensed in.

Don’t be one of the many families that suffer financial loss when an adoption doesn’t work out. At American Adoptions, we protect your budget so that you can focus on your dream of building a family.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do we need to retain our own attorney?

No, American Adoptions has established relationships with some of the best adoption attorneys in the nation. Because adoption laws vary from state to state and between counties, it is important to utilize the services of an adoption attorney who specializes in the state where the adoption will finalize, which is unknown until you match with an expectant mother. You have the right to retain your own attorney, but doing so may be an additional, unnecessary expense.

Can we choose the gender of our baby?

American Adoptions does not allow gender specificity in adoption. Any family who wishes to be gender-specific in their adoption should contact us at 1-800-ADOPTION and ask about the possibility of an exception waiver before taking any other steps toward adoption with our agency. Any families who do receive an exception to be gender-specific may also incur an additional fee, which helps cover the additional advertising costs of such a request.

Please note that gender specificity will likely increase your wait time significantly.
