Lauren's Adoption Story
First off I would like to introduce my self. My name is Lauren and I am a birthmother. My beautiful little girl was born on September 11 2006 at 8:35 in the morning. I first want to share a little about my pregnancy. I found out that I was pregnant about 6 weeks after my 21 birthday. When I found out that I was pregnant I was scared and did not know what to do seeing that I did not have a father for my child I pondered many different options one of which was abortion. I knew I would not be able to live with my self if I did that so after talking to some close friends and family I decided on adoption. Now here came the hard part finding an agency to work with. I was not sure how it worked so I did an extensive search and that’s when I came across American Adoptions. My experience with American Adoptions could not have been my dream come true but it was. The staff at the adoption agency were kind friendly and very knowledgeable. After filling out the paperwork that was sent to me I was contacted by a wonderful adoption specialist Jennifer she was a gift from god above. During the process of my pregnancy and selecting families Jennifer and I came across a couple bumps in the road but she worked through them with me. Due to personal medical problems I could not find a family that wanted my child. Jennifer worked day and night to find me a wonderful family.
I remember the day that I received a call from Jennifer and she said that she had found a family for me and asked me to check out their profile. I did and loved it. At that point I asked Jennifer when I could speak to them we decided on that Thursday. I remember feeling really nervous around the time of the call but as soon as Jennifer introduced me to Mark and Joyce I felt like I had known them for years. They were the most wonderful people. So to make a long story short Mark and Joyce came to see me then they waited around in my home state until my induction date. They were with me the whole time in the hospital. When my daughter was born just how happy they were and watching them with her made me so much more comfortable with my decision. I am a happy and proud birthmother and my message for all other mothers is you are making the most loving and selfless decision that anyone could make and I know how hard it is so I pray that you will find the courage to do just that. Like I said the staff at American Adoptions from the person who answers that initial call to my adoption specialist are wonderful loving and very understanding hope you got a little more insight and just want to let all birth parents know go ahead and do it. And a special message to my daughter’s adoption family, Mark Joyce Heather and Brandon I love you guys dearly thanks for making this easy. I love you all thanks for accepting my little girl.
