We have a variety of activities and hobbies that we enjoy. We particularly enjoy being outdoors. Whether it be camping, hiking or simply enjoying an evening on our front porch, we find enjoyment in the great outdoors. We love to travel and visit new towns and cities. Roger has a love of history so our trips are often enhanced by his vast knowledge. We love to pack a picnic lunch and head out early in the morning for a long drive, stopping wherever we choose. We enjoy music and have spent time at the local university for a variety of shows. One of our favorite trips was to the New York Symphony Orchestra and the Metropolitan Opera. We both enjoy reading. Susan loves crafting and often does so with her mother. She also enjoys a good girls shopping trip. We also value spending time with our friends and family. Whether it is a BBQ at our home (Roger is a shark in the kitchen and with the BBQ smoker), a day at a local park or a group camping trip, we are happiest with the people we love around us.

Susan About Roger: Roger is simply the best. I admire his intelligence and ongoing willingness to learn. He's constantly reading and researching. He is the most intelligent person I know. His goofy sense of humor compliments mine. Roger has a resilience that is unmatched. He yearns to make those around him happy and feel loved. There is a goodness in him that always works to see the best and offer the benefit of the doubt. I often find him giving our nephews advice or explaining something to them in a way they will understand. He has taught me how to slow down and enjoy the simple things - as he says, "just savor it." Following along his interests has opened me up to new experiences, like the symphony orchestra and an opera at the Met in New York City. He is an explorer and a historian and travel is never dull. To put it simply, he is the BEST. I couldn't have asked for a better partner in this life!

Roger About Susan: Susan is such a beautiful person in so many ways, and a few paragraphs aren't enough for me to express how wonderful she is and how much I appreciate her. I love her genuine positivity. She brings out the best in me. She constantly inspires me to look at the bright side of life. She is generous, selfless, and compassionate with everybody who is important to her. She is very loyal to those she loves and goes out of her way to make sure they are comfortable and happy. I admire the fact that even though she faces a lot of difficult situations in her profession, she continues to love her job and enjoys the difference she makes in people's lives. She has been such an amazing aunt to our nieces and nephews, as well as my god daughter. They all adore her. I truly believe that she would be an exceptional mother. She's simply the best partner I've ever had in my life, and I couldn't imagine living without her.

As we have dreamt of raising a child for as long as we can remember, we have so many dreams for our adopted child. We will strive first and foremost for their happiness. We hope they will find themselves and their personality and confidently find happiness in the beautiful human they are sure to be. We dream they will have a zest for life and learning through travel and reading. We dream they will remain curious yet content, finding peace in the simple things like a hike in the woods or a beautiful sunset. We hope to instill a sense of humor so as not to sweat the small stuff. They will always know they have a safe place in our home, regardless of what stage of life they are in. Lastly, they will know unconditional love.

When we first toured our home together five years ago, we knew it was where we hoped to build our lives and raise a family. We have worked hard to create a warm and welcoming home where anyone who walks through our door feels comfortable.

Our home sits on 11 acres with meadow and wooded areas creating a serenity and plenty of areas to play and roam. The only thing better than watching a sunrise from our front porch is sitting in the yard watching the wonder of the stars in the night sky.

Though we feel we have found our patch of paradise, we remain close enough to a large town that we get the best of both worlds. Our neighborhood is a wonderful mix of farms with horses, cows and sheep as well as developments with many growing families. The school district is one of the best in our state and offers a large variety of opportunities for its students. The tractor parade each 4th of July is a community hit! There is a wonderful fruit farm down the road and their orchards are in the fields above our home. We love to visit and take hay rides and enjoy their various festivals throughout the year.

One of our biggest blessings is our families. We each have been blessed with a supportive group of parents, siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews that are looking forward to welcoming our adopted child into the mix. Our gatherings are full of laughter and games (and quite loud). Bingo brings the whole family together. There is always an abundance of homemade food (hand-made pierogies are a must) and everyone enjoys a good meal around the table sharing stories, memories and some lighthearted joking. At Christmas, our Reindeer Games bring out the competitiveness (and gut busting laughter) in young and old alike. We often vacation with various members of our families, taking our show on the road!

Everyone has been encouraging regarding our decision to adopt and looking forward to a new baby to love and bring into our loving craziness! We have felt incredibly supported through the early phase of our journey and know there will be no shortage of love to share with a child.

Throughout our four years of marriage, we have yearned to be parents and have built a strong relationship. This serves as the foundation of our family.

We feel it is incredibly important for you to know our promises to you as you consider allowing us the honor of raising your child. We promise to unconditionally love your child, always, no matter what. We promise to support them through the highs and lows that life is sure to bring. We promise to show them as much of this big, wonderfully crazy world as we are able. We promise to nurture their interests and cultivate their understanding of the world and people around them. We promise they will know laughter and fun as we are simply too goofy and silly to do otherwise. We promise to harbor a sense of exploration and curiosity where no question is off limits and an honest answer will be waiting. We promise to build traditions with them and to always raucously celebrate their birthday. We promise they will be surrounded by our big, loud and supportive families who simply cannot wait to meet them. We promise our friends will be an extension of our family and they will always love and support your child. We promise to provide for your child's needs and to protect them. We promise a peaceful home with good communication and understanding. We promise they will always have a home to run to no matter what life throws at them. We promise them stability and a shoulder to lean on (or cry on if the situation calls for it). We promise to be their guardrails on the road of life.

Most importantly, we promise your child will always know you. We promise they will know their adoption story. We promise there will always be a safe place for their feelings and questions surrounding their adoption. We promise you will get to know them through photos, letters, and emails at a minimum. We promise they will know you and their birth family's heritage in whatever way and amount you choose to share that heritage with us. We promise to incorporate special traditions you may choose to share with us into your child's life. Finally, we promise they will always know your love for them.
