Nick & Chyree

We are glad for the opportunity to get to share a little about us. Being big kids at heart, our home is full of love and laughter (as cheesy at that sounds). We are excited to share our lives with a child and to plan movie nights with the pups, days at Disneyland, and camping trips together! We appreciate you considering us, and hope to share this journey with you.

Our Leisure Time

Chyree as Snow White for a Children's Birthday Party

Chyree fills her time with a wide variety of activities. She owned a princess party company bringing fairytale characters to life for children's birthdays and charity events. She also loves the arts. She plays three instruments and adores singing. Her love of singing led her to audition in 2024 for a musical at a local theater, which led to even more involvement in the local theater community. Chyree has been sewing costumes since her mother taught her to sew when she was 14. While performing with the local theater's musical production, she was able to branch out into costuming. Now she helps with not only the musical aspect, but also the costuming for many productions. Chyree is also active in her church choir, often appearing as a featured soloist. For more relaxed quiet time, Chyree loves to read and can devour a novel in a matter of hours. Even while she is sewing, she is listening to audiobooks.

Nick spends his working hours in a law office, so home-time is very important to him. First, Nick enjoys just spending time with Chyree and the pups. Family time is centering and recharges his battery. Nick also loves watching sports; specifically SF 49ers, LA Dodgers, USC college sports, and Leeds United soccer. Nick also enjoys puzzles and games as well as home improvement projects, which keep his mind working.

Some activities we both enjoy together are video games, TV/Movie nights, and walking and playing fetch with the dogs.

Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other

Hiking at Twin Lakes

Chyree About Nick: I thank God every day for bringing Nick into my life. I love Nick's drive to be a strong provider and always ensure my happiness. He has a very loving and compassionate nature and can be counted on in tough times to be the voice of reason and calm. I respect Nick's strong sense of right and wrong, and know that these qualities will make him a wonderful father.

Nick About Chyree: Chyree is the perfect complement to my practicality. I love Chyree's openness, adventurousness, levity, and desire to make the most of everyday. Chyree brings out the best in me, and really anyone else that is lucky enough to cross her path that day. Despite her love for adventure, Chyree does not get restless when relaxing at home or engaging in routine events. She makes the boring times fun, but also injects calm in otherwise stressful situations. Her temperament and love for life will improve all aspects of motherhood, including education, games, and even discipline.

Our Pets

Penny, Riggsy, Pepper & Anna

Nick has had dogs since his childhood, who have experienced many major life events with him, starting with Anna (the 2nd ), who was Nick's best friend during his parents' divorce.

We currently have four dogs, each with a very different personality. Like any self-respecting Millennial, we love Harry Potter and sorted our dogs into Hogwarts houses:

Penny Lane (Penny): Slytherin
Eleanor Rigby (Riggsy): Gryffindor
Sgt. Pepper (Pepper): Ravenclaw
Anna V (Anna): Hufflepuff

Sgt. Pepper is 8 years old, and we have had her since she was a puppy. She started The Beatles naming scheme. Chyree and Nick are both big fans of The Beatles and have named (almost) all of their pups accordingly. Pepper is a full blooded Great Dane, or small horse, and still acts like a lap dog. She loves to cuddle her giant Christmas Pickle plush and loves warm blankets. Riggsy was adopted in 2023 after we lost our 15 year old pup, Anna IV. Pepper was definitely feeling lonely and needed a friend, and BOY did we deliver. Riggsy turned out to be pregnant when we adopted her, and she had 15 puppies! From the litter, we kept two puppies and named them Penny Lane and Anna V. Anna V comes after Anna IV, who Nick and Chyree adopted shortly after marriage and spent her entire 15-years making their lives more full. Penny is a little firecracker who has Chyree wrapped around her finger (…paw?), and she definitely knows it.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

Our home is in the California Central Valley. Our town of approximately 150,000 offers the advantage of a small town lifestyle with plenty of city excitement. On top of that, the Sierra Nevada mountains are one hour to the east, the Pacific Ocean beaches are 3 hours to the west, Los Angeles is 3 hours to the south, and San Francisco is three hours to the north. Both Chyree and Nick grew up in this town and, after living in Los Angeles for a few years, were happy to return to this perfect spot for a family.

The town is fairly diverse, and our neighborhood is a microcosm of that. Our home is located on a cul-de-sac with eight total houses. The neighbors are like an extended family (gifts at Christmas, home-sitting while someone was away, etc.). Speaking of Christmas, half of the homes go ALL OUT with lights programmed to music! People drive across the county to watch the show, and we get to see it right out our window. About half of the neighbors have young children or grandchildren playing in the street on any given day.

Our home has 4 bedrooms in addition to the mother-in-law suite that Chyree's grandmother (Mimi) lives in. There is plenty of room for us, the four puppies, and a new little one.

Our Extended Families

With Nick's Sister, Niece & Mom

Nick's mom, Mary--who was also adopted--lives in town and loves to garden. She and Chyree love to swap seeds and veggies that they've grown and talk about what they'll plant for the next season. His father, Lee, lives in Franklin, Tennessee and rides a Harley. He loves to visit and dote on the puppies, and he is excited to dote on a future grandchild. Nick has three siblings. Gina lives in Santa Barbara with her husband and son; Dustin lives in Napa with his wife and their two young children; and Angela lives in Portland with her two children. One year, we all got together for Thanksgiving at Mary's house. Dustin loves to cook and made a Tur-duck-en which was definitely a fun experience but probably not one we will repeat anytime soon.

In Hawaii With Chyree's Family

Chyree's parents, Kevin and Glenda (step-mother), and Cynthia, both live in town and are a big part of our lives. Cynthia is a crafter and all around DIYer. She and Chyree are always doing some craft, baking, gardening, or building something together and usually enlist Chyree's nephews when they are in town. Chyree has four siblings. Two sisters, Chelsea and Ashley, live in town; Chantelle lives in Fairfield with her husband and their two sons; and her brother, Travis, lives about 40 minutes away. Our last big family vacation with Chyree's dad and siblings was in Oahu, HI. We toured the places where they filmed Jurassic Park and were visited by a giant tortoise on the beach!

From Us to You

We are so grateful that you have been able to get to know us a little bit. Our prayer is that the perfect match for you and your child is found, whether or not that ends up being us.

Our marriage of 18 years is now a legal adult! We were married young, at ages 20 and 22. We spent the first few years of our marriage learning not just about each other, but still about ourselves. We have seen friends' relationships not survive those growing pains, but we have come out stronger than before. During that time, we shared a 2-bedroom house with friends, then moved to our own apartment, to our own house, to turning our whole lives upside-down by moving to Los Angeles and starting law school, to living in six(!) places in 4 years in Los Angeles, to coming home and settling in, ready for the next adventure.

We have built a strong foundation together to ensure a stable future for our family. When returning to our hometown, Nick found a law firm that feels like a family and promoted to partner, securing our roots in the area and a stable long-term position. We also were fortunate enough to find the perfect house to grow and still take care of our extended family, as necessary. When Chyree's grandmother ("Mimi") could no longer live on her own, we were able to move her into a mother-in-law's quarters at the house and keep her independent, but close and safe. Chyree even drives a minivan in anticipation of this next chapter. All of our lives to this point were meant to guide us here, to American Adoptions and you.

Aside from our relationship with each other, we have outstanding family support, and that includes blood family, work family, and friends. We are an open sort, with no guilt, shame, or judgment. Chyree has been very open about her endometriosis diagnosis and our steps on growing our family. The support from our local family (Nick's mom, Chyree's mom, dad, step-mom, sister, and brother), as well as our distant family (Nick's dad, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.) has been nothing short of remarkable, but knowing them, not at all unexpected. Nick's partners and work family also cannot wait for the next step. Some are almost as excited as we are!

Regardless of the child that fate and love find for us, we will work steadfastly to make their life as full, rewarding, and happy as possible. We are fortunate to live in an area with a variety of cultures to which we can expose a child. Further, we have nature in all directions from the lakes and mountains to the east, ocean and beach to the west, and hills and valleys in between. We cannot wait to share these blessings with child.

This is such a big decision, and we cannot imagine how you are feeling making it. You are such an important part of this child's story, and we would be honored to share that journey with you. There will be no stigma or shame. We will talk openly about all of the types of love and parenting there are, including your role and ours. Our child will be loved day in and day out and will know that they are so loved both by you as their birth mother, and us. We will always want what is in the best interest of the child, and will make sure that we are open and honest in communicating with you throughout the years. At a minimum we will send pictures and letters about important milestones in our child's life, but are open to discussing further forms of communication. We understand that you may not yet know what level of communication you want, but please rest assured that we will do our utmost to make sure that our child learns about their culture and history.

We are very excited to welcome a child into our home, and pray that you find peace and clarity while making this difficult decision.
