Oscar & Cameron
We are thrilled to be on this adoption journey and appreciate the time and thought you are putting into it as well. We each knew that we wanted to be parents before we met each other, and we are excited that we now have the opportunity to transition from a couple to a family. We have so much love to give and we thank you for considering us to be part of your journey.
Our Favorite Vacation Spot
Since we've been together, we have traveled to over fifteen countries together. But, our favorite vacation spot is one that is just a three hour drive away: Walt Disney World! Each of us have fond memories of family trips to Disney. And, coincidentally, each of us started our professional careers working there as well.
We love the variety of experiences that we can have on a Disney vacation. Sometimes we go to enjoy the excellent service and amenities at a Disney resort. Other times we want to experience the thrill of their latest roller coaster attractions. And sometimes we just want to enjoy a character breakfast and get a hug from Mickey Mouse. The Disney brand is one that inspires hope, dreams, and wonder. In addition to the parks in Orlando, we've also visited Disneyland in California, Paris, and been on several Disney cruises!
Since we both grew up with Disney in our lives, we can't wait to create those memories with our child. To see and experience Disney through their eyes is something that will truly be magical.
Our Leisure Time
We're always looking for local things to do on weekends and have coined the term "Something New Saturday" as a phrase we use to remind ourselves to try new things in our area.
We both believe it is important to lead an overall healthy lifestyle. We go to the gym together 4-5 times a week, enjoy participating in 5k runs and obstacle course races, enjoying outdoor activities like kayaking and swimming, and are always looking at new healthy recipes to try, especially since Cameron became a vegan in February 2024.
We also love to travel! In the last year, we traveled to 7 countries. Whether it's a cruise, a trip to a new US state that we haven't been to, or a flight across the ocean, we're often looking for our next adventure. Since our families couldn't afford to travel as much when we were younger, we think it's important to explore the world.
When we're not on the go, we love playing board games and watching movies. If we're not home having a Harry Potter marathon, we're probably in theatres catching the latest animated release.
Cultural Diversity
We think that it is important for our child to have access to both their personal cultural background and also be exposed to cultures around the world.
We are a mixed race couple, and we understand that this child may be a different race than either of us. If that is the case, we would want to make sure that we are finding communities where we can integrate our family and ensure the child sees and grows up around other children and adults that they look like. We understand the importance of having that sense of belonging. We know that we will have to educate ourselves further through books, movies, articles, and more to be more competent about our child's race. However, sometimes the child will just need to speak with someone of similar background, and we will want to ensure they have the access to those people through the relationships we cultivate.
We also find immense value in the cultural diversity around the world and in our own community. Oscar's favorite part of growing up in NYC is the variety of backgrounds, cultures, religions, and family dynamics of his friends growing up. We love to travel and experience cultures, foods, art, dance and more - and we can't wait for our child to grow up learning about all types of people.

Our House and Neighborhood
We live in a very inclusive community in South Florida. Our town has a lot of parks, dog parks, art installations, and more. Our favorite part of where we live is how close everything is. We can easily walk to restaurants and grocery stores or take a short drive to the beach, parks, and recreational activities. Living in a downtown area, there are many events hosted like outdoor movie nights, holiday festivals, and family carnivals.
We live in a townhouse community and have been in the area for six years. We have a gated community pool just steps from our front door, where we can often see neighbors and their families enjoying the water or cooking in the outdoor kitchen area every day.
Since our best friends have a toddler that we spend a lot of time with, we've already begun to build a network of other parents with young children. We can't wait to welcome this child and continue enjoying all that our community provides for families.
Our Extended Families
Cameron is originally from Michigan and most of his family still lives there. He has an older brother, sister, and two nephews. We usually spend time with Cameron's family on their annual trips to Orlando. His mother is a Halloween fanatic and plans our family themed costume when we go to Disney for Halloween. Our favorite theme was Wizard of Oz!
Oscar's family is in New York and New Jersey. He comes from a large Puerto Rican family, and has 9 half- and step-siblings. Oscar and his mom are best friends and they speak every day. His parents visit multiple times a year and we love going to the beach and traveling together. He is also very close with one of his sisters and is helping her plan her wedding.
Since we've lived in South Florida for over six years, we've developed a family consisting of our best friends. From quiet board game nights to traveling together, we are inseparable. We are each other's support system and cheerleaders. The newest member of our family is our best friend's child, whom we call our nephew. Witnessing him grow up over the last two years has been amazing and we can't wait for him to be an older cousin to this child.
Our individual families and our best friends have become one. We spend holidays with their families and they spend time with our families during their visits. We are all excited to have a child join this loving family.
From Us to You
We hope this letter finds you in a good place and feeling the support and love surrounding you. We are Cameron and Oscar, a loving couple eager to build our family through adoption. We want to express just how grateful we are for the tremendous decision you are contemplating, one that speaks to a profound love for your child.
We know that you have options when it comes to pregnancy and raising a child, and we admire your courage, strength, and thoughtfulness in considering adoption. We understand the love and sacrifice that come with this decision, and we want you to know that we are wholeheartedly committed to providing a nurturing, loving, and joyful home for your child.
Our journey as a couple began in 2018, when we met on St. Patrick's Day. Several holidays mark special occasions in our lives, including the days we became engaged as well as married. I guess you could say that we love celebrations, and raising this child would be the biggest gift we could ask for.
Our shared passion for travel ignited our souls and strengthened our bond, taking an 11-day trip to Europe only a few months after meeting. We have since traversed various cultures and landscapes, creating memories enriched by adventure. Whether touring through ancient cities or cruising through the islands of the Caribbean, we have learned to embrace the wonders of travel together, and we can't wait to share that zest for exploring the world with our child.
We are both fitness enthusiasts, finding joy in staying active and living a healthy lifestyle. Whether it's hitting the gym, running Spartan races, or kayaking in the nearby channels, we know the importance of physical health for sustaining our well-being. We plan on instilling a love for fitness in our child, encouraging them to enjoy outdoor activities, learning important skills through sports, and developing a positive relationship with their body. We can't wait to explore activities with them and see what feeds their excitement.
As a multiracial same-sex couple from two very different hometowns, we also deeply appreciate the diverse backgrounds that shape who we are. We understand the value of teaching our future child about their own identity, and encourage an openness to the beauty of differences in people. Our goal is to create an environment where they feel proud of who they are and where they come from.
We are incredibly passionate about creating a loving, safe, and inclusive home filled with laughter, acceptance, and support. Our friends and family describe us as dependable, compassionate, and adventurous individuals, always ready to lend a helping hand or listen when someone needs to talk. We hope to cultivate a space where your child can flourish, explore their passions, and become their truest selves.
We know the journey of adoption can be filled with uncertainties, but please find solace in the fact that we have prepared our hearts and lives for this beautiful chapter. We are deeply committed to being attentive and present parents, cherishing each milestone and ensuring your child knows the love that exists for them - from you and from us.
If you choose us as your child's adoptive parents, we would be honored to embrace open communication, if that is something you'd be comfortable with. We wish to maintain a connection that feels right for everyone, providing a sense of continuity and love in your child's life. We are committed to ensuring you receive pictures and letters as your child grows and develops.
Thank you for taking the time to read our letter and considering us to be part of your journey. Whatever you decide, we wish you peace and comfort.
Warmly,
Oscar & Cameron
