Our Life Priorities

Colette's First Kayak Ride at the Colorado River

Our daughter, marriage, and family take priority in our life. Starting a family has been the most fulfilling adventure in our lives and we are excited to welcome another child into our loving family. Our love and commitment to each other, our child Colette, and our family, is at the core of our souls and values. It drives every decision we make and our daily actions.

Our daughter Colette has participated in toddler gymnastics and is currently taking swim lessons. She has traveled with us to several states and has hiked in Sedona and Yosemite, kayaked down the calm waters of the Colorado River, and sledded down the mellow slopes of Idyllwild Forest. Every day she enjoys our daily tradition of playing with various toys in her playroom, swinging on her indoor swing, jumping on the toddler trampoline in the backyard, singing her favorite Disney songs and playing catch with balloons before bed, and playing hide and seek every night (she LOVES to play hide and seek!). We also have an awesome cat named Yuki (meaning “Snow” in Japanese) and a Beta Fish named “Fish” (Colette named him).

We imagine doing all of these things with our children and bearing witness to the incredible bond our children will have growing up with one another in our amazing home and family! We know that we will make excellent adoptive parents and look forward to providing a loving home that is safe, supportive, and filled with incredible life experiences, as we have for our daughter Colette.

How We Met

Our Honeymoon in Fiji

We met over 25 years ago when working as waiters at an Italian restaurant while each attended the same Community College. We first became friends and then started a relationship that lasted many years. We parted ways for a long period of time because we were not ready to marry, however, always remained in touch because we cared for each other deeply.

Life events between our mutual friends brought us back together in 2018 and we knew right away our love had lasted all these years and would last the rest of our lifetime. Within 3 months of rekindling our relationship, we decided to get married and start a family. We married in 2019 in the local mountains surrounded by our closest family and friends. We recently celebrated our 6th year anniversary!

Our Lifestyle

Visiting Yosemite

Music, art, and travel are very important part of our lives and have shaped who we are. When we were younger, we loved to go to music festivals and dance the night away. We would like to give our children the opportunity to play instruments if that desire speaks to them. The love of music is a bond that we share and hope that these experiences will bring great memories for our children.

We both have backgrounds in art, so we also share the love for creating and Imagineering. Michelle also loves to grow various plants and she enjoys caring for them with Colette who loves to water the plants. Exposing our children to art, creativity, crafting, and building, is very important to us as we feel that these activities bring a lot of joy in life.

We have traveled a lot throughout the United States from North, South, East, to West! We share a dream to one day rent a camper with our kids and continue to explore the National Parks. We know that exposure to different cultures and ways of life will expand our children’s minds to know that there are incredible people, traditions, and experiences outside of our country.

Our Extended Families

First Fourth of July with Grandma

Family is central in our life! We have a three-year-old daughter named Colette. She is incredible and has changed our lives for the better in countless ways. We have a large family and group of very close friends that we consider family.

With Josh's Family in Our Backyard

Michelle is very close with her family consisting of her mom, dad, older sister, younger brother, and a niece and nephew. She has several aunts, an uncle, a grandmother, and many cousins that live there. Her parents’ home is the central gathering place for pool parties and BBQing because of their awesome backyard that has all the amenities. We frequently go on trips with Michelle’s family to their vacation home on the Colorado River to hang out by the river, go on river floats, watch sunsets, cook amazing food, listen to music, and ride wave runners. We also go snow skiing annually and small weekend trips to the local mountains and Palm Springs.

Josh’s parents live in Oklahoma, so we take an annual trip there every Spring, and they come to visit us in the Fall. Their home is on several acres of land surrounded by woods; we spend our time there BBQing, relaxing in the yard enjoying nature, bonfires listening to music, boating in the Ozarks, fishing, hiking, and watching Colette play in the paddling pool, sprinklers or driving the small tractor in the yard (made for children).

Josh’s grandparents and aunt live locally about one hour away. We gather with them several times a year for the holidays. Our family and friends are very excited to welcome another child into our family through adoption, and they will play an important role in his/her life. They are loving, supportive, inclusive, and most of all — fun!

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We live in beautiful Southern California in north county San Diego! Our home is 10 minutes to the beach, 20 minutes to beautiful oak foothills with rivers and great hiking trails, and 50 minutes to local mountains with pristine pine forests and camping.

Our 4-bedroom, 3-bathroom home is nestled between the beach city, and the more rural communities that stretch into the beautiful foothills and mountains. The view from our backyard is spectacular, we have a view of a tomato farm and local mountains! We love looking at the view from our dining table and spending time in our yard enjoying the fruit from our orange, lemon, guava, and avocado trees. We are incredibly happy living here, where we can enjoy the beach-city vibes and amenities of the city life, but also live a quick drive to nature which is highly desirable to us. Our location is abundant with things to do and places to explore.

There is a beautiful local park nearby that we visit regularly with a large lake, small stream, playground, trails, and water birds. Our daughter Colette loves to play at the playground, and it has been a tradition to bring seeds with us to feed the birds. In the summer we often go to a nice public pool with heated water and a splash pad for kids to play. We also have a bike trail below our home that runs along the farm edge that we can ride all the way to the beach or to the large park described above. In downtown, they offer a weekly farmers market featuring all the local restaurants’ cuisine, fresh produce, and local artisans selling goods. Fourth of July is a big event at the beach with firework shows. There is always something to do or see in our city.

From Us to You

Thank you once again for taking the time to review our profile and allowing us to share our story with you. We cannot imagine what you are going through and what has led you to consider adoption for your child. Know that we respect and admire your tremendous courage, love, and strength. Our paths are crossing with the same goal in our hearts, to raise your child in a home filled with love.

We are ready and prepared to welcome your child into our family and love them unconditionally as we love our daughter. We sincerely believe that we will be excellent adoptive parents and will provide a loving and supportive environment where your child will never question that they are loved and that they belong. A feeling of belonging is the foundation for happiness in life. Your child will grow up in a safe and diverse neighborhood, where they can enjoy all that beautiful Southern California has to offer. Our home and location provide exposure to incredible lifestyle experiences such as the beach, hiking, and short drives to both the desert and beautiful local pine forests. We will continue to adventure to local getaways and travel both nationally and aboard. Your child will have the unique opportunity to learn about other cultures and ways of life which will expand his/her understanding of how people live in other parts of the country and world. He/she will be in a household filled with music, silly dancing, and creatively which will spark his/her creatively and senses.

Your child will share incredible life experiences surrounded by a large extended family, close family friends, and cousins to play with. Your child will have a loving big sister who adores him/her and will have the opportunity to build a lifelong bond with their sibling. They will have shared memories, adventures, and life experiences that only siblings can recall with one another. That is priceless. They will have everything they need to thrive in life.

It is our commitment to you that your child will know that you love them unconditionally. We believe that it is important for your child to know where they come from, and the circumstances of why you had to make the extremely difficult decision to choose adoption. We want them to know their unique and special story of coming into our family. This will be done gently with storybooks and open conversation. We want your child to know they have been loved every moment of their life. There will be an open line of communication with you through texts, emails, picture exchanges, and video chats. We will respect whatever feels comfortable for you.

We hope that you consider our family during your search, and we understand that this can be a very overwhelming time. If you have any questions or would like to know more about us, our daughter, our family, anything at all, we are open and available to talk. Thank you once again for taking the time to learn more about us. We would be honored to share this journey with you.
