Our Cultural Heritage

Hot Pot for Chinese New Year

Anna was born and raised in Shanghai, China and Andrew is a Colorado native. As a couple who grew up in completely different cultural backgrounds, we feel like we broadened each other's horizons.

Anna introduced to Andrew a lot of authentic Chinese food and taught him how to speak Chinese so he could communicate with her parents.

Andrew took Anna on many 4×4 off-road adventures in the mountains and showed her America's car culture through his passion for fixing and remodeling cars.

Although we have different cultural heritages, we love each other tremendously and are thankful for the culture that we each brought into our relationship.

Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other

At a Rockies Game in Denver, Colorado

Andrew is a reliable and capable man in Anna's eyes. Whenever Anna has trouble with her car or something is not functioning in the house, Anna can always count on Andrew and know that he will make it work. Whatever Andrew puts his mind to, he will bring it to completion. He is also a fun and loving husband around whom there is always funny jokes, memes and laughter.

Andrew most loves Anna's sense of humor and mirth. The house is usually either filled with singing, humming, or laughter, coming from wherever Anna is. What Andrew most admires and respects about Anna is her servant's heart. She is an exemplar of serving others even at the expense of her own interests, whether it's chores around the house, her job, or making dinner for friends in need, Anna willingly gives her all with a gracious attitude.

Our Faith Is Important In Our Lives

Fun With Church Friends

Our first priority in life is our relationship with God, in which we spend time reading the Bible, praying, and worshiping Him, so that we may understand His will, be used by Him and carry out His plan for our life. It is our goal to live as a family that is pleasing to Him and raise up children that will love and honor Him. We also spend a lot of time and energy in our church where Anna serves on the worship team and Andrew serves on the usher team. Church for us is not simply an activity or building, but an extended family with whom we do life together.

Our House and Neighborhood

Home Sweet Home

We live in a suburban town in northern Colorado. We have a lovely and well-established neighborhood that offers community parks, walking trails, a library, shopping areas and schools. The community puts on a lot of family-oriented events, such as outdoor movie nights, a memorial day festival, a "pioneer days" festival, and 4th of July fireworks.

We moved into our current house in this neighborhood in late 2020. Our home has 3 bedrooms, a large living room where we like to spend most of our time hanging out, and a spacious backyard. Our neighbors are very friendly and we help each other out when we can.

We also have a dog, who loves to sleep in the sun and explore the outdoors. He is a rescue dog who has been with us for more than 3 years now and is well-trained and calm, and he is very patient and gentle around children. We love him and he is an integral part of our home.

Our Extended Families

Christmas Pajamas With Andrew's Grandparents

While Andrew's parents reside in Connecticut, Anna's parents live in Shanghai, China. We normally see Andrew's parents once or twice a year. Sometimes they travel to us, sometimes we travel to them. When we're with Andrew's family, everyone enjoys a good board game or a walk around the neighborhood. Andrew has three siblings who all live on the east coast. We get to see them less often than Andrew's parents but we all love sharing news and memes in the family group chat. It's always a party whenever we get together with Andrew's siblings. We also frequently spend time with Andrew's grandparents, who live only a few hours away.

High Tea With Anna's Parents

We don't see Anna's parents very often, but when they do come and visit, we usually spend time talking with them over a good home-cooked meal, usually traditional Chinese food. Although we have not traveled to China together, we would love to do so in the near future to see more family members from Anna's side.

Both of our extended families are excited about our plans for adoption, and can't wait to become grandparents (or great-grandparents!)

From Us to You

Life is a journey full of crossroads. We have encountered many crossroads over the last couple of years in our life and choosing adoption is one of them. We understand that you too are at a very important crossroad of your life right now and it will likely be one of the hardest decisions that you have ever made in your life. If you are here reading this letter and pondering the options before you, we would like to encourage you to consider giving the life inside of you a second chance because life on its own is precious. This little heartbeat inside of you is crying out to you that there is life and it wants to live.

If you are ready to honor this life, we want to give you a shout and say thank you, whether you choose us as the adoptive parents or not, for choosing life for this child and giving them an opportunity to thrive and grow into the wonderful individual they are meant to be. It takes courage to make a decision like this, and this decision will impact not only the child's life but so much more. As it says in the Bible, love does not seek its own. By giving the child a life they dream to live, you are demonstrating this love and it is the most powerful gift that will be carried on by this child.

As Christians, we were given the gift of love through Jesus by whom we were adopted as sons and daughters into His kingdom. Since He adopted us and loves us, we want to pass this love on to this child and love them as our own, if you choose us to take care of them. We have been happily married to each other for almost six years now. It is our promise that this child will be raised in a loving home full of peace, care, laughter, and adventures. To help facilitate that, Anna will leave her job to be a stay-at-home mom. We believe that everyone has their calling from God to fulfill in their life, and it will be our privilege to help this child to find theirs. Under our nurture and support, we are confident that the child will live a happy and fulfilling life.

Even though the child might be physically far from you, you will forever hold a unique place with special feelings in this child's heart and ours. We understand deeply the emotion you have and the sacrifice you made for this child and we are very grateful. We hope that you will remain in contact with us to witness the difference your choice has made in this world. When you feel comfortable and ready, we would love to send periodic updates with letters, photos, videos, and emails, hoping that it will bring you comfort and confidence in the future to say, "I made the right choice at the crossroads of life". Truly your selfless love will forever be remembered by us, by the child, by the people in both your life and ours, and most importantly, by God.
