Colin & Keith
Hi! We are Colin and Keith. We live in sunny Southern California with our two dogs/best friends, Penny and Zoey. We've been together for 8 years, married for 4 years. We are so excited at the possibility of starting our family through adoption. It's been our dream to have children. We're ready for the next step in our journey.
Our Family Dream
Our dream is for our child(ren) to be happy and feel supported in life. We ultimately hope to have 2-3 children so our kids will grow up with siblings like we both did. We both value our relationships with our siblings and how that enhanced our childhood.
It's hard to pre-define exactly what our child's lives will be like. We'd love for them to speak multiple languages, play an instrument and be a real-life superhero. But ultimately we understand that our children's interests may not match our own. As gay people, we inherently know what it's like for our lives to turn out different than our parents may have planned for or expected. We will reinforce good behavior and lead them to be good people with a respect for their family, friends and the world/environment, while also allowing them to pursue their own interests. But wouldn't hurt if they also loved movies, board games, traveling, animals and cooking!
Our Leisure Time
We spend a lot of our leisure time gardening and renovating our house. We also like to be active through socializing with friends/family, exercising, sports and playing with our dogs, Penny and Zoey. In addition to those, we like traveling, watching movies, playing video games and board games. We bought our first home a few years ago and while our home was already in great shape, it's been very fulfilling and fun to make the space our own. Our front and back yards didn't have any plants or landscaping before we moved in, so one of our favorite parts has been planting trees and succulents and transforming our yards into lush landscapes. We have also enjoyed building different things around/for the house. We built a back deck the first summer we lived here that we're very proud of. We've also renovated our master bathroom. Taking on projects and trying new things are definitely behaviors we will establish with children. We want children to be lifelong learners and to apply themselves to achieve their goals. We didn't know how to build a deck or renovate a bathroom or landscape a yard before buying our home, but it was important for us to do it ourselves. We took the time to learn, applied what we learned and put in the time, which has made the final product that much more gratifying.
Our Pups, Penny & Zoey
We have two dogs, Penny (vizsla/whippet mix) and Zoey (husky mix), who are our world and ingrained in everything we do. Both of us had dogs growing up and were both very excited to get to a point in our adult lives where we could have our own dogs as well. We rescued Penny in 2017 when she was estimated to be 6-9 months and she immediately stole our hearts. Penny loves climbing into a pile of pillows (or our laundry) and making sure she gets her rest and relaxation. First thing every morning, Penny will go outside and lay on a couch on our deck until she's ready to start her day. Zoey came into the picture in 2020 during lockdown when she was 3. We were living in a studio apartment at the time, so we spent a lot of time outside making sure Zoey and Penny got their exercise. We credit Zoey with starting our home search, because with the two of us and two of them, our apartment felt smaller by the day. Zoey likes to lay in the sun, play with her toys and always making sure we know someone's at the front door. Honestly, we love everything about them. They bring so much joy and fun to our lives and we know Penny and Zoey will love a child as much as they love us. We're proud to have rescued them to give them the safe, loving home they deserved.

Our House and Neighborhood
We bought our first home about three years ago now and still live there today in sunny Southern California.
Our house has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. We spend most of the time in the backyard with our dogs Penny and Zoey, playing or lying in the grass.
Our street is quiet and we have several families with children on the street. We are also one block away from an elementary school.
We are very centrally located to the beach, the city, landmarks and theme parks. We love our city and have both lived here around 10 years now.
Our best friends who live nearby are going through the surrogacy process right now, so we are excited to be going through these dual paths together to be able to support each other, with them also being so close.
Our Extended Families
We are both very close with our extended families, all of whom are very excited for and supportive of our adoption journey.
We both grew up recognizing the importance of family. Colin grew in Colorado where it was just his immediate family nearby. Keith grew up in Massachusetts with all of his extended family nearby, where many cousins are like siblings as well. It was fun to introduce each other to our families, because of the ways our families are both similar and different. It's also a really great blend of dynamics and relationships within our families. Our parents in particular have been able to get to know each other better over the years, which has been really nice. We both have siblings and have cherished those relationships as they've evolved and strengthened over our lives. While we don't live near Colin's family (now in Tennessee) or Keith's family (still in Massachusetts), we want to live closer to them in the future so any children can have those bonds with aunts, uncles and cousins like we both have had in our own ways.
It's also been nice to experience each other's family traditions that we hope to continue with our family, like: summer vacations (Colin), Christmas-time movie marathons (Colin), Christmas yankee swap (Keith) and monthly family birthday parties (Keith).
From Us to You
Hello!
Greetings from Southern California. We are Keith and Colin, and we write to you with a blend of hope, gratitude and respect. As we write this letter, we are looking out at our backyard, our dogs Penny and Zoey lying in the grass and the sun shining above us. We have a very loving home that we are excited to share. We very much appreciate your consideration.
Our adoption journey is a heartfelt choice, born from our deep-seated belief in the power of family. We treasure our diverse family ties, a colorful blend of races, religions and stories, including those of adoption and IVF. It's a great testament to the open-minded and accepting nature we wish to extend to a child.
Our home in California is full of warmth and laughter. Here, you can find us gardening, building, learning, gaming, playing with our dogs and always making time for spontaneous dance sessions.
Growing up with and continuing to have pets has taught us about responsibility, compassion, and unconditional love - invaluable lessons we are excited to pass on. Our dogs, Penny and Zoey, are integral parts of our lives and fill our lives with so much joy and fun. "P" and "Zoe" would likely become quick best friends with a child.
We have been together for eight years and married for four. In our relationship, open and heartfelt communication is paramount. We believe in resolving conflicts with understanding and patience. We are an unwavering support system for each other. This foundation of love and mutual respect is what we also aim to provide for a child - a nurturing environment where they can grow, thrive and be themselves.
Our promise to you and the child is a commitment to a life filled with education, experiences and travel. We pledge to support and celebrate who they are, offering a community that's diverse and welcoming. Our large, loving family eagerly awaits the chance to welcome a new member, ready to embrace them into a world where they can be their own superhero.
Your brave and selfless decision to consider adoption is moving and something we tremendously respect. It represents an opportunity for us to fulfill our dream of becoming parents, a chance to share our love, our lives and our family with a child. We are here, with open hearts, ready to embark on this incredible journey.
We want to express our commitment to maintaining an open line of communication with you, as much as you are comfortable with. It's essential to us that we respect your wishes regarding the level of contact you prefer. Whether it's through writing letters, sharing photographs or providing updates, we are dedicated to keeping you connected with the child's journey. At a minimum, we promise to send letters and pictures every year, ensuring that you are a part of their growing moments and milestones. Your involvement, as per your comfort, is something we value and will honor consistently.
Thank you for considering us as potential parents. Your choice could grant us the most precious gift - the opportunity to share our world with a child, to nurture their dreams, and to provide them a future filled with endless possibilities. We appreciate your consideration.
With heartfelt gratitude and warm regards,
Colin & Keith
