Our last two Testimonial Tuesdays have featured families who adopted children from Available Adoption Situations. Some of you may have questions about what this means, so we thought we’d take the opportunity to explain what they are and how to find them.
Our Available Adoption Situations page is intended to give prospective adoptive couples the opportunity to view real pregnant mothers who are working with American Adoptions. Each family must be paper-ready to be considered for any of the situations, so continue to read on before you contact our agency at 1-800-ADOPTION with any questions or inquiries.
In order to be considered for the situations listed, you must have an approved and current adoption home study and be able to fax or mail it to our office upon our request. You must also be able to provide all items on our list of required supporting documents at that time. For information about what we require for your completed home study to be approved by American Adoptions, or what supporting documents you must provide, please see the home study section of our website. If you are interested in one of the situations and have a completed home study, but do not have these items in-hand, you should speak with your home study agency and verify the steps you’ll need to take to acquire these documents in case you are chosen for the situation.
If you do not have a home study at this time, you may not be eligible for a current situation. However, if you would like to have a home study completed to use in the future, please click here to see our home study information. If you do not live in a state where American Adoptions can provide your home study, please visit 1-800-HomeStudy for home study agencies in your state.
*Note: Adoption situations listed on our site represent an extremely small percentage of American Adoptions’ cases. These situations are only listed when we are unable to locate an adoptive family from our own pool of waiting families. Although many of the following adoption situations include reported drug usage, medical concerns or other factors, please note that these are rare situations and do not represent the majority of cases handled by American Adoptions. Please note that any “at risk” fees associated with these situations do NOT apply to families who are currently active with American Adoptions. For more information regarding any of these situations, or for more information about our agency, please contact us at 1-800-ADOPTION or at situations@americanadoptions.com. Or you can visit the American Adoptions Adoption Situations page.
