Every November, the standing President of the U.S. makes a proclamation to call others to recognize November as National Adoption Month and to encourage awareness for adoption and action for children needing permanent homes. The following excerpt comes from President Obama’s 2013 National Adoption Month Proclamation, which he issued on Thursday:
“Every young person deserves the chance to learn and grow under the care of a loving family. Across our Nation, adoptive families give that chance to over a million children and teenagers. During National Adoption Month, we celebrate these families and stand alongside every child still looking for the warmth and stability of a permanent home… This month, we celebrate adopted children, teenagers, and their diverse families. We work to give more young people permanent families and promising futures. And we encourage our friends and neighbors to open their hearts and their homes to children in need.
