Jessica's Adoption Story

When I first found out I was pregnant, I was frightened. I cried until I could cry no more. What was I going to do? How could I raise a child at this point in my life? My boyfriend and I were not emotionally ready to start a family. We loved each other very much and would shower that love on our child, but in the end, however, love would not be enough to give him the life he deserved. Abortion was something I could never go through with and adoption felt like betrayal.

After some research, we found American Adoptions' website. There were so many couples eager to start a family. We decided to get in contact with someone at American Adoptions and they opened my eyes to the future I could give my child. Each step was very difficult with this precious life forming inside me and it was important for us to find the right family. We looked through packets of couple's profiles and soon found the perfect couple, Brian and Jennifer. They had a big family with relatives close by and their values were what we wanted our child to grow up with.

Soon after we had phone calls with the soon to be parents and learned even more that we liked about the couple. We could hear the joy in their voices when talking about starting a family. When they held Ian Joseph in their hands for the first time, I can not explain the love I saw in their eyes and the happiness I felt knowing that these people were the ones that would give him a fulfilling and happy life. We receive pictures and letters often. It is really amazing to watch him grow and see how happy he is in the family we chose for him. This little miracle has changed Brian and Jennifer's lives forever as well as mine. For that I am eternally grateful.
